The Department of Student Services provides quality educational support services in the areas of Special Education, Counseling and Medical Services to students in grades Pre-K through 12. The mission of the Student Services Department is to provide a comprehensive program that addresses the academic, career, and personal/social development of all students. It is fully integrated with the district’s mission and works with students, parents, teachers, administrators, and community members to ensure quality learning and lifelong success.

Mr. Michael Nicosia
Mr. Mike Nicosia joined the Butler education community in January, 2020 as the Director of Student Services. In his current role, he leads the district's PK-12 special education programming, district counseling department and serves as the district test coordinator. Prior to Butler, Mr. Nicosia had served as an elementary principal, middle school assistant principal and high school mathematics teacher. Mr. Nicosia holds a M.A. in education leadership from Montclair State University, a M.Ed. in educational practice from Centenary University and a B.S. in Mathematics from Montclair State. Mr. Nicosia is currently preparing to defend his dissertation, Teacher Perception of Intervention and Referral Services, for completion of requirements for his Ed.D. at Centenary University.
